ReMod

ReMod is a Chrome extension and web app I built to rebuild my school's lesson modules into something faster to learn from.

I capture a lesson with the extension, and an AI pipeline finds the best short video for it, checks what the video misses, writes a reading to fill the gaps, adds visuals and builds a quiz.

I built it in two days, working from a learning-science brief I put together from more than 80 sources.

Built for the lessons at my school

At Alpha, my school, much of the academic work happens in online lesson modules, and some are long and repetitive. ReMod rebuilds them. Its front page says what it does: capture a lesson module, and ReMod rebuilds it as a lean video, a focused reading and an assessment, with no fluff and no repetition. The web app only lets in Google accounts from the school's own domains, and every rebuilt lesson lands on my dashboard so I can come back to it.

One click captures the lesson

The extension lives in the Chrome toolbar. On a lesson page I click Capture this lesson. It waits for the page to finish loading, scrapes the text, headings, images and embedded videos, and sends them to the web app to start the rebuild. A status line tracks the progress, and Open Dashboard jumps to the finished lesson.

The ReMod Chrome extension popup: a Capture this lesson button, a status line reading 'Navigate to a lesson page, then click the button above.' and an Open Dashboard link.

A pipeline rebuilds it in five steps

Behind the button, five AI steps do the work. GPT-4o maps the lesson's concepts and objectives. A search finds candidate YouTube videos, Whisper transcribes the best one, and the transcript is checked against the lesson to see how much it covers; if coverage is low, it tries another video. A reading fills in whatever the video missed, Gemini draws visual aids, and the lesson ends with multiple-choice and written questions that AI grades.
